Assisting in Worship
Assist in leading the church in worship.
Ushers play a key role in helping our worship service run smoothly and reverently. This is a hands-on role for those who feel called to support the liturgy and serve with consistency.
From carrying the cross in the opening procession to distributing communion and caring for the offering, ushers help the gathered church participate in the rhythms of worship each Sunday.
What does an usher do?
Ushers arrive by 9:15 am for pre-service prayer, and serve through the end of the service. Their responsibilities include:
Processing the cross and Bible at the beginning of the service
Collecting the offering during the offertory song
Serving communion to the congregation
Counting and storing the offering after the service
Each week, one usher also serves as a liturgical leader, reading Scripture aloud and leading the Prayers of the People.
Why it matters
Ushers help carry the weight of worship—not in a spotlight, but through meaningful actions that support and uphold the liturgy. If you’re drawn to structure, steadiness, and helping the church worship well, this is a vital way to serve.
