Serve as a Greeter
Create a space where people feel seen, welcomed, and at home.
Greeters are the front lines of hospitality each Sunday. With a warm smile and a steady presence, greeters help ensure that no one walks in unnoticed and everyone feels welcome in the presence of God and His people. On any given Sunday there are four greeters. One hospitality coordinator, one greeter who will also serve communion during the service, and additional greeters for pre-service hospitality.
This role is perfect for those who enjoy meeting new people, noticing small needs, and helping create a hospitable environment where worship can flourish.
There are three distinct greeter roles on Planning Center. You can make yourself available for one or all of them.
Hospitality Coordinator
One greeter each week serves as the hospitality coordinator. This requires arriving a bit earlier than the other greeters and preparing the loungeroom with plates, napkins, coffee, tea, and snacks. This also involves setting up the outdoor signage outside the building. The hospitality coordinator does not need to do these tasks alone, but is responsible for ensuring they are completed on time each week. Training and onboarding is available for this role.
Greeter
Greeters arrive by 9:15 am for pre-service prayer, and serve before, during, and after the service in practical ways:
Welcome people at the door and the sanctuary entrance
Help newcomers find what they need—restrooms, kids check-in, bulletins, etc.
Assist Hospitality Coordinator with coffee, tea, and snack preparation
Work with Hospitality Coordinator to set up and tear down outdoor signage
Assist in serving gluten-free communion (one greeter each Sunday)
During the service, greeters are usually able to sit back and participate fully in worship with minimal interruption.
Greeter/GF Communion
As the name would suggest, this role is the same as a basic greeter but will also assist during the worship service by serving gluten-free communion.
Why it matters
Hospitality isn’t just being friendly—it’s preparing the way for others to encounter Christ. Whether through a kind word or a well-timed cup of coffee, greeters extend God’s welcome to everyone who walks through our doors.
