The Mission Cincinnati seeks a gifted and experienced part-time director of Mission Kids & Family Ministry who will work joyfully under our senior pastor and alongside our ministry team to create and run excellent outreach and discipleship ministries to the diverse children and families of our church and our community.

We are a very young church plant that has grown from 2 – 67 people in 2.5 years with a vision to continue to grow and plant neighborhood-based churches throughout our city.  Our church meets in a Recreation Center in the neighborhood of Evanston for Sunday worship, however we enjoy office spaces that we use during the week in the neighborhood of Norwood. 

Currently our children’s ministry is one of our most unique offerings.  We have several families who call our church home with a few elementary-aged children, several toddlers, and several infants who are about to be born.  Additionally, we have a group of ~10 elementary-aged children and youth who walk from our neighborhood to be a part of our Sunday worship services.  Almost all of these children experience food insecurity, live in single-parent homes, and/or have special learning or behavioral needs.  Currently we have a team of 10-12 volunteers who lead a Sunday morning children’s ministry that teaches lessons from the Gospel Project Curriculum.



The job is part time (~20-25 hours/week). 

Compensation will be $2,000/month or $24,000.00/year

The Director of Mission Kids & Family Ministry reports directly to the Senior Pastor but will often work with our Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, Director of Community Outreach, and Church Administrator as Well.


Primary Objectives

-        Observe, understand, retool, and strengthen our Sunday morning children’s ministry programs & processes.

-        Evaluate and strengthen our church’s children’s ministry volunteer leader training and care

-        Design, recruit leaders for, and implement a mid-week afternoon neighborhood relational children’s outreach ministry that creates space where volunteers from our church can build relationships with neighborhood children and ideally their families, creates inroads for children and families to connect with the life of our church, that sows seeds of the Gospel and begins to teach the Biblical story, and that offers a safe and positive space for children and ideally families to have fun and be loved.

-        Grow our children’s ministry volunteer base.

-        Grow the number of children and families who attend The Mission Cincinnati.



  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Attend, help set up for, and help lead ministry during weekly Sunday worship services.

  • Lead our Children’s Ministry Team.

  • Design and implement ways to care for and equip families for ministry within the home.

  • Create and/or purchase curriculum for Children’s Ministry

  • In consultation with Senior Pastor & ministry team, work to integrate children and families fully into the life of the greater worshiping congregation

  • Work with Director of Community Engagement to build on existing partnerships and relationships with local schools and community development organizations to build a holistic local neighborhood family ministry.

  • Build into the relational life of our church family by joining a mission community and engaging in friendships, pastoral relationships, and/or mentoring relationships with our congregation.

  • Demonstrate fantastic people skills and the ability to work well with a team.

  • Demonstrate fantastic administrative and organizational skills

  • Demonstrate a strong leadership gifting

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of recruiting volunteers and new people into initiatives under their leadership.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record for starting and sustaining (and ideally growing) a new ministry or non-profit work.

  • Be a self-starter and be comfortable receiving high-level directives and turning them into detailed practical realities.

  • Visibly love children and families and inspire others to do so. 

  • Demonstrate a ministry philosophy that integrates a passion for evangelism with a strong concern for public justice. 


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalency education

  • 5+ years of ministry experience with youth/children/family focus preferred

  • Committed faith in Jesus Christ

  • Have experience and certification working with children with special needs and children who have experienced or are experiencing trauma and be able to train others to work with and care for those kids.

  • Ability to make at least a 2-year commitment to this position

  • Ability to start in this role by as early as August 1st, 2019.
